Build Access to Document-Based Questions for Multilingual Learners

Opportunity at a Glance: We invite grades 6-12 socail studies teachers to participate in this professional learning session that will focus on Document-Based Questions (DBQs), which requires sophisticated historical thinking and literacy skills, that are often inaccessible to multilingual learners. 

This professional learning session has been updated to do the following:

  • Suit the specific needs of  various audiences;
  • Present a methodology for making Document-Based Questions (DBQs) both accessible and relevant to multi-lingual learners through scaffolding tools; and
  • Present a new creation of Document-Based Questions (DBQs) reated by a team of history teachers and English Language specialists from Massachusetts through a Library of Congress grant.
