Open to: All Teachers; Content Best Suited for Upper Grades
Opportunity at a Glance: Jackie Robinson’s belief in economic empowerment was central to his fight for first-class citizenship for African Americans. In this interactive session, educators will analyze photographs, charts and graphs, newspaper columns, correspondence with sports figures and politicians, videos, and more to learn about the significance of Robinson’s diverse banking and business ventures as part of a larger narrative of America’s history of economic inequality. A select number of these sources will be shared with educators who complete the session.
