Open to: Full-time PreK-12 Classroom Teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: Richard Wright’s penetrating novella, to be released in April by The Library of America, explores the “underground,” where Black life is lived as if behind a veil. During this three session Master Class participants will consider historical and contemporary allegories associated with The Man Who Lived Underground, as well as what we can learn from Richard Wright for our own time.
Participants will do the following during this three session Master Class:
- In the first two sessions, learn from Rutgers professor Wallace.
- In the third session, exchange ideas with other great teachers.
Participants will complete homework for each session.
This program is free for public and charter school teachers. Participants will be selected by application and nomination.
CTLE-credit is available.
