Reading Like a Writer with Michael Cunningham

Open to: All Full-time PreK-12 Classroom Teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: Join us and acclaimed writer Michael Cunningham and explore the elements of craft—like character, structure, and voice—that writers use to produce compelling narratives, and ways to convey these craft decisions to students.  Developing a fundamental understanding of how fiction works, and the many different ways it can work, can help students become more ,generous, and discerning readers. There are three learning session for this professional learning segment. The learning sessions include the following:

  • During sessions one and two teachers will learn from Michael Cunningham; and
  • During the third and exchange ideas with each other.

Participants are selected by application/nomination, and have some homework for each session.

CTLE credits offered. Cost: $175, paid by your school. Scholarships available.
