Opportunity at a Glance: Fellow educator and curriculum author Dr. Habiba Noor will lead participants through an active listening session as we present the oral history of Muslims in Brooklyn narrator. Attendees will do the following:
- Learn methods to engage students in listening and analysis or primary source material; and also
- Learn the role oral history can play in creating culturally-responsive classrooms.
Then, artist Alison Kysia will share lesson plans from the Challenge Islamophobia Project and her current project, 99 Clay Vessels: The Muslim Women Storytelling Project. Educators will view component parts of the 99 Clay Vessels Project and generate ideas about how to engage student learning.
