Opportunity at a Glance: During this in-person workshop, participants will do the following:
- Explore Central Park geology to learn field techniques for making observations of local rock formations;
- Analyze and interpret these observations to make inferences about the geologic origins of Central Park rocks.
The workshop will start in a museum classroom where we will become familiar with the types of rocks found in and around New York City. Then we will move into Central Park to practice making observations on rock outcrops.
**The field portion of this workshop requires some strenuous activity, so wear comfortable clothes and shoes for walking two to four miles through the park.
