Opportunity at a Glance: The research vessel JOIDES Resolution (JR) drills into the ocean floor to collect core samples of sediment and rock, which scientists analyze to better understand climate change, geology, and Earth’s history. During this two-part session, participants will collaborate with other educators to engage your students in authentic science through the following:
- Access to hundreds of free classroom materials that will involve students in the science of previous JR expeditions;
- Opportunities for students to interact in real-time with scientists aboard the JR; and
- Connections to the Museum exhibits to augment your curriculum through place-based learning.
Key dates:
- Wednesday April 26 (Online) from 4:30p.m. – 6:30p.m. EST and
- Sunday April 30 (In person at the Museum) from 9:00a.m. – 12:00p.m. EST
