Opportunity at a Glance: During this Lighthouse Collaborative visit we will focus on how teachers plan and implement a balanced approach to teaching math that helps students develop fluency, automaticity, conceptual understanding, and problem solving skills. This Lighthouse Collaborative visit will highlight the following:
- Specific math components and their purposes, including when, how and why to use them.
- A variety of pedagogical structures, including mental math mini-lessons, error analysis, gallery walks, workstations, and investigation and how they are used.
- The relationship between assessment and instructional decision making.
- Methods for unpacking and integrating standards across grade levels.
