Comics, Community and Action

Open to: Grades K-12 Teachers, Instructional Leads and Administrators
Opportunity at a Glance: Join the NYCDOE Department of Social Studies and Civics for workshop where participants will explore the Civics for All curriculum and the comic, How to Be an Action Activist 2. Enjoy a guided tour of the Stirring the Melting Pot and The New York Sari exhibition at the New York Historical Society.  During this workshop we will discuss the importance of understanding communities, guiding students to create positive change, and learning how empowered individuals can contribute to this process. Participants will also engage in a community walk to learn more about the area through a hands-on activity.

This session is designed for K-8 educators, and lunch will be provided.
