Opportunity at a Glance: Join the NYC Social Studies and Civics Department along with The New York Historical for a special professional learning opportunity. During this professional learning session participants will explore the exhibit Democracy Matters. Drawing primarily from the permanent collections of The New York Historical, the exhibition explores how the concept of democracy has stretched, contracted, and shifted through key moments in the history of the nation; how competing understandings of it have come into conflict; and how those conflicts have reshaped its boundaries.
Participants will also unpack connections to our Passport to Social Studies, Civics for All, and Hidden Voices resources for classroom use.
