Increasing Equity and Access through Differentiated Lesson Design in Grades 6-12 Mathematics

Opportunity at a Glance: The Eagle Academy for Young Men II is an all-male 6-12 Grade Title I school located in the Ocean Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn. The Lighthouse Visit will focus on Eagle Academy II’s approach to designing and adapting mathematics instruction that balances rigor and accessibility, and maximizes student engagement in response to demonstrated strengths and needs. 
This Lighthouse visit will highlight the following:

  • How to design differentiated problem sets;
  • Classroom routines for accountable student discourse in mathematics; and
  • Assessment techniques for daily instructional decision-making.
