Opportunity at a Glance: Join us as we discuss strategies for teaching with primary sources in the middle- and high school classroom. Modern Medicine in Brooklyn looks at a timeline of medical advances in Brooklyn and includes images, artifacts, articles, political cartoons, and ephemera covering epidemics including, but not limited to, smallpox, the 1918 Influenza pandemic, antibiotics and vaccinations, the AIDS epidemic, health-related public service announcements, and modern day medicine. This primary source packet is a great addition for providing context to a conversation with students around the current COVID-19 pandemic.
