Teaching America 250: Free LGBTQ History Videos on Organizing for Change

Open to: All High School Teachers
Opportunity at a Glance: LGBTQ history is American history.  In honor of America 250, the NYC LGBTQ Historic Sites Project is releasing ten new short videos exploring how LGBTQ+ people have organized for change – from the Progressive Era to marriage equality.

These free videos introduce high school students to LGBTQ+ place-based history through sites connected to people, movements, and events, with themes including civil rights, transgender activism, public health, and legislation. Students can connect with topics related to civics, humanities, and social studies.

The Project’s series also includes over 40 videos on subjects related to the city’s LGBTQ+ history.
